Full Text

Alabama.—The falsehood and misrepresentation of the federal papers in declaring a majority of the people of Alabama in the last August election, opposed to the measure of an Independent Treasury, is exposed in the Montgomery Advertiser of the 15th ult. which says:

"Nothing could have been written upon the subject of which they treat, further from the truth; and what the object could have been in publishing them, we are utterly at a loss to determine. For the information of our political friends abroad, we will say that we as firmly believe that there is at this time in Alabama, a clear majority of ten thousand in favor of Mr. Van Buren and the Independent Treasury bill, as we believe any thing that we do positively know."
