78 Holds Its Annual Switchmen's Picnic
LOS ANGELES --D. P. Conway, Lodge 78 recently held its annual "Switchmen's Picnic" at Elysian Park here. An all-day affair, festivities began at 8 a.m. and lasted well into the night.
Early in the day a softball game was played between the switchmen and the officials and yardmasters with the latter team emerging victorious. Several other softball games were played, among which was one between the husbands and wives, with the wives winning 7 to 1!
Among those attending were Deputy President H. E. Nevalla, Santa Fe General Chairman C. W. Morgan, Union Pacific General Chairman D. R. Altier, and Field Representative J. A. Norman.
Also attending were R. E. Rowland, W. E. Brack, and G. H. Dotson, trainmasters, and R. F. Norling, general yardmaster, all of the Santa Fe.
A wiener roast, compliments of the lodge, topped off the evening.
It was cooked by M. F. Smith, Dan Buckley and Sid Perry.
R. C. Clotfelter furnished a public address system for the picnic.
Jack Lysaght, Sid Perry, Ike Wilson, M. F. Smith, R. T. Smith and Jack Beard were on the picnic committee.
