Full Text

WARSAW, May 20. The Turks continue to make divers Movements on the Side of the Ukraine, but we cannot yet believe they design to proceed to a Rupture with Russia; it is rather probable that they intend only to exercise their Troops, who require to be put in Motion, to prevent their committing Disorders in their Quarters, which too frequently happens. Nevertheless, there is too much Reason to fear that this Stratagem will not prove successful; for the Janizaries expect nothing less than that a War will follow the present Military Dispositions; and if they find themselves deceived, they may possibly go to Work their own Way, either proceed without Orders to downright Hostilities against some Neighbouring Power, or else bring about a Revolution at Home. At present they are quiet enough in the Budziack and Crim Tartary; but it is plain that their Preparations have encouraged the Haydamacks to ravage again the Frontiers of Poland.
