LONDON, August 2.

It may seem incredible, but it is most certainly true that Great Britain pays in taxes, upwards of forty-one thousand pounds every day in the year. So great are the resources of a commercial nation.

The Council of War at Vienna have given sentence against Legisfield and the other officers accused of peculation in the Commissary's department.

The sentences are as follows: Legisfield is dismissed; to be personally degraded of his nobility, and to be carried to the public place of execution, there to be hanged until he is dead. The Emperor has, however, granted his life, and has condemned him to be exposed three days in the pillory, with an inscription, calling him Forger, and Faithless Cheat of the King's Treasury. Afterwards to work in the galleys twelve years, and then to be banished from this Emperor's dominions, and all his effects confiscated.

Leopold Laolz, condemned to two years imprisonment in a fortress. The Emperor has ordered only one year's confinement in irons, in one of the small casements of the fortifications.

Eilinger, dismissed, and declared incapable of being employed; to restore double, and to be sent in irons to the public works for two years. The Emperor has ordered him to be exposed on the pillory, with Legisfield, with a writing importing him to be A Divulger of the Secret, of Office; an acceptor of Bribes, and a Favourer of the Cheats in other Offices.

De Soancseld, dismissed from his place, condemned to restore double the value of the presents he accepted; to be imprisoned one year, from the 15th of October, 1786, and then to be at liberty. The Emperor has ordered him to be delivered to the civil power, and to be imprisoned one year, in one of the small casements of the fortifications; without, however, declaring him incapable of serving, or degrading him of his nobility.

The Widow Maderers is released, with the loss of her pension.

The Auditor Allen, who conducted the process, is made Reporter to the State Major, with a present of 100 ducats.
