Elated at the result of the late election
in Prince William, he has reminded the
freeholders of Prince William, Loudoun
and Fairfax, of his claims to their support, in a second address, in which he
thus expresses his joy and gratitude.
"To the resumption of reason in the
minds of Federal Americans, can only
be attributed the support I have had the
honor to receive in Prince William
from my fellow citizens heretofore differing with me on general topics of political discussion - and to those developments which the times have presented,
alone can be looked to account for the
proportion of votes which the opposing
candidate has received, believed to be
unprecedentedly small to what they were
at any election since his first."
We cannot object to the expression
of gratitude for unmerited favors. We
will barely remark at present, for the satisfaction of our distant readers, who
look with some anxiety to the result of
the Virginia elections, that they need
not be alarmed at this partial success of
a war advocate. Mr. Love crows upon
his own dunghill. The elections in
Loudoun and Fairfax are yet to be decided. The cock must crow thrice before the honor and interest of this part
of the union is betrayed into the hands
of the friends to war & French alliance.
