and Turnbull, of the U. S. Engineer
Corps, have taken their departure from
Pensacola for N. York, having completed
their surveys in Mobile and Pensacola
Bays, assigned to them by the govern-
ment.
It is but paying a just tribute to worth,
to say that such officers reflect honor upon
the authority which appoints them. We
venture to say, that not a respectable in-
habitant of either place, who had the plea-
sure of their acquaintance, viewed their
departure without a feeling of regret.-
Confining as their duties were, and few
the hours devoted to social society, their
intelligence and gentlemanly deportment,
modestly and naturally displayed, could
not escape the respect and esteem of asso-
ciates.
