Clark College Players Present
"Lord's Prayer"

The Clark College Playhouse presented Sunday afternoon, Nov. 5, THE LORD'S PRAYER, a religious play, by Francis Coppee, which depicted Paris at the time of the French Commune. The presentation was gripping and soul-stirring.

The stellar role, Mademoiselle Rose, was played by Miss Bernice Hankerson, of Atlanta. Her acting was outstanding and gave evidence of talent which when developed might lead to a professional career in dramatics. She was supported by a well-trained cast which included Zelee, the maid, played by Miss Ora Williams of Detroit; Mere Blanche, played by Mrs. Ora W. Bohannon of Atlanta, the Cure, played by Mason Wilkes of Chicago. Mention should be made here of the masterful way in which Mr. Wilkes played his role. As priest, he was quite appealing and convincing

Other members of the cast were Jacques Le Roux, a refugee, played by Calvin Johnson, of Gadsden, Ala.; and a French soldier, played by Johnny Colquitt of Gary, Ind.

The Clark College Playhouse has done an efficient job, having been organized late in September of this year. The Lord's Prayer was its second production. The organization, under the direction of Mrs. Norma Hull Bland, instructor in dramatics and speech, is headed by the following officers: Miss Maxine Webb, president; Miss Katherine Johnson, vice-president; Miss Katie L. McKinney, secretary; Miss Ora Williams, assistant secretary, and Miss Carrie Jefferies, treasurer.

The production staff for THE LORD'S PRAYER was headed by Mrs. Ora W. Bohannon, who was stage manager; Miss Inell Brown, assistant stage manager; Misses Williametta Beasley, Mary Rowe, and the Messrs. William Thompson and Clarence Lovick, committee members for stage manager; Misses Ruperla Samuel and Annette Johnson, costume committee; Misses Dorothy Elliott, Marilyn Garrett, and Maxine Webb, make-up committee; Misses Josephine Washington and Lency Lee Waters, property committee. These members of the production staff have been commended for the atmosphere created by stage decoration, setting, and costuming. Miss Cleo Parker of Cincinnati read the prologue and Miss Marilyn Easterling of Dover, Del., led the devotional meditation which preceded the play. Misses Alva Lindsay, Lena Dean, and Mary Green, and Mr. Maurice Downs served as ushers.

The production, MEET THE HUSBANDS, by Robert Hilton, will be the next feature presentation of the Clark College Playhouse. The date for this presentation will be announced later.
