On the 14th inst. Col. Twiggs of the Georgia militia, and Major Jameson of the Virginia light horse, having received intelligence that M'Girt, with a party of the enemy were some miles below Briar creek, pursued, fell in with, and attacked them, killed five, wounded five, and took four others prisoners (among the wounded a Lieutenant Jones, of Col. Moore's regiment) twenty three horses and fifteen guns. M'Girt, with the rest of the party, got into a creek near the place of action; either M'Girt or one of his officers, with a Lieutenant, were so badly wounded, that they were tracked by their blood near a mile. Our loss was an officer of the Virginians and two horses wounded.
