NEW HAVEN. Jan. 12.

Extract of a Letter from a Gentleman in New York, to his Friend in New Haven, dated the 7th Inst.

"It is with the greatest Pleasure I inform you of the agreeable News we have received by a Ship just arriv'd from Holland, own'd here. The Capt. reports. that two Days before he left some Out Port in England, the Name of which I have lost. it was publickly reported that Admiral Hawke had fell in with the Brest Fleet, took four Ships of the Line, sunk three of the Line, and Several of the Transport Ships; and that Prince Henry had totally defeated Daun's Army; and that a Peace was much talk'd of."
