STATE AUDIT SAYS
Members of the Hernando County Board of Public Instruction discussed and reviewed the report of State Auditor G. S. Mobley at the meeting of the Board Dec 18th and accepted bids for sale of Istachatta property and Garden Grove holdings.
The state auditor's report covered the period for the twelve months up to June 30, 1950, declared school affairs to be in substantially good order with the financial condition of the Board reported as "good".
B. E. Peters, of Istachatta, was the successful bidder for the two lots owned by the Board in that community with a bid of $103.46. Three bids were entered but one was withdrawn. The other was submitted by Fred Tankersley in the amount of $95.
Four bids were received for the Garden Grove school building, lot, and all improvements with Mrs. Alice Mondon being the successful bidder at $2,150. Other bids were: A. W. Beard, $660; D. M. Crum, $1,251; and Carl Rogers, $1,510.
The Board members passed a resolution requesting affiliation of the Hernando County Institute for veteran's training with the Florida Institute of the State Department of Education so as to facilitate changeover from jurisdiction coming under the Veterans Administration to the state department.
Final business of the meeting was the setting of Jan 2, 1951, as the date for the reorganization meeting of the body.
