Salem Baptist Church Installs New Officers

Officers of Salem Baptist Church were installed for 1962 at the services at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. A. T. Rowan, pastor, installed all the church and auxiliary officers.

Installed as deacons were David Sayles, Albert McKinley Sr., Eugene Caldwell, L. T. Tinsley, George Bigham, James Wilson, F. D. Brown Sr., Clarence Taylor, Louis Taylor, Carl Turley, Otis Scott, William McCoy, Fred Stovall, Morris Clark and Nick Boiesaw.

Trustees installed were Jasper Lewis, Theotto Bowles, Ozell Thompson, David Sayles, Roscoe Tinsley, Clarence Taylor and Louis Taylor.

Church officers installed were Helen Hite, clerk; Vivian Bigham, assistant church clerk; Theotto Bowles, treasurer; David Sayles, chairman of the official board; Roscoe Tinsley, treasurer of the building fund and George Bigham treasurer of benevolences.

Esther Turley, Joan Peacock, Callie Glover, Betty Hassell, Gregory White and Patricia Kingston were installed as musicians.

Auxiliary officers installed were: James Wilson, Sunday school superintendent; William McCoy, president of the Men's Brotherhood; Morris Clark, director of Baptist Training Union; Calvin Peacock, president of the senior usher board; Elouise Washington, president of the youth fellowship.

Anne Thompson, president of the Matrons; Willie Mae Williams, president of the Majestic Choir; Dorothy Lee, president of the Gospel Chorus; Barbara Hamilton, president of the Youth Choir; Virginia Rodgers, adult adviser of the Youth Fellowship, and Margaret Hunt, president of the Missionary Circle.

Music for the installation service was provided by the Men's Chorus and the Youth Choir. The Rev. Cecil Webb and the Rev. C. E. Campbell assisted the pastor in the service in the church 5th and Park streets.
