OPEN PIT MINES DEPT.

Men enjoying their vacations since last report in PICK AND SHOVEL were Frank Boone, James White, Marvin Whitmore and Lonnie Sullivan. All reported a good time, relaxation, and a hunting spree.

Some of our men have been on the sick list but from all accounts are on the mend and will return to work before many days. They are—Luke Edmonson, J. T. Tillman, Frank Boone and Louie Sullivan.

Our department extends sympathy to the bereaved family of Walter Akins, retiree, who passed away Sunday, April 8, 1956 at his home in Springhill, Louisiana.
