Jemison Hails Youth Conf.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—In a statement to churchmen of all denominations, Dr. D. V. Jemison, President of the National Baptist Convention, Inc., called for support for the Southern Youth Legislature, meeting in Columbia, S.C. October 18, 19 and 20 at the call of the Southern Negro Youth Congress. Dr. Jemison, who is a member of the Advisory Board of the SNYC, released the following message of endorsement of the Youth Legislature:

"I am happy to sponsor the Southern Youth Legislature because the Southern Negro Youth Congress which is convening believes in fair play to everyone regardless of race, creed or color because the Bible that God is interested in no particular race because of skin but that he is interested in the human race, and believing the young people of the SNYC have the God-given courage to fight for the coming rights as promised by the prophets of a Heaven on earth."

At this great assembly the young generation will demonstrate their faith in the future. They will declare their right to live free from the terror of the mob, their right to vote and to work and to be free men and women. It is God's will that they shall speak and that the mighty shall hear their voices.

"I urge the church to cooperate with the SNYC whose national office is in Birmingham, Alabama in supporting this Youth Legislature by sending our best young people as delegates to Columbia, S.C., October 18, 19 and 20."
