Communication With Odessa Reopened After Ten Days
Report That 120 Persons Perished In the Storm
Story of Severe Suffering of Those In the Buried Trains

St. Petersburg, Jan. 1. Communication with Odessa has been reopened after ten days' suspension. The blizzard continued ceaselessly for nine days, and a report is made in trains (which lost) 120 persons. Jan.

The Odessa correspondent of the Ha-I. describes the suffering of railway passengers. A train between Kharkov and Feodossia, with 1,000 passengers, left Kharkov at 10 o'clock Friday night. The train reached a point eight versts from the station of Ignatievka at 1 a.m. Saturday. The engine was derailed, and the train was buried in snowdrifts. The depth of the snow was two feet. There were three feet of snow on the cars. The situation was frightful. The passengers were without food. The weather was piercingly cold. After vain efforts to clear the track and to reach the nearest station, the passengers decided to abandon the train and seek shelter. A woman who had been confined during the night died. The body was placed in the snow. The passengers suffered horribly from thirst and hunger. The children cried piteously. It was impossible to dispatch word due to the intense cold. The weather was frightful. The wretched were perished. It started to travel for which the duration against the drift and of fear. The area were oued shader.
