Accounts from Calcutta, dated June 11th, declare, that the new society, established there for inquiring into the natural history, antiquities, arts, sciences and literature, of Asia is daily advancing to maturity. Sir William Jones had laid before the society, some very valuable manuscripts, respecting the geography of Asia, in the Persian language, and was preparing a translation from the Hindoo of some curious researches into the manufactures, agriculture, and astronomy, of the inhabitants.

The above learned body consists at present of 42 members only, who hold weekly meetings, without formality or expense, for the purpose of examining original papers. In case a sufficient number of important articles are contributed, the members intend to present an Asiatic Miscellany to the public at the end of every year.
