Social Drinker Held Worse Than Drunk Motorist

MIAMI BEACH - (INS) - A social drinker is a greater traffic peril than a drunken driver, according to an Alabama doctor.

Dr. C. J. Rehling, Alabama State toxicologist, told the traffic court conference in Miami Beach that "the drinking driver is our problem. The social drinker is one who gets into accidents."

Dr. Rehling, who heads the Alabama Crime Laboratory, said the drinking driver is one who likes to show off and to take chances. He added, "The drunk, the one who has more than .150 per cent of alcohol in his blood, usually is the slower driver and has fewer accidents."
