Terrific Thunderstorm.

PETERSBURG, VA., March 26.—A tremendous thunder storm burst over this city shortly after midnight last night. Rain came down in torrents. The thunder was so severe that it shook the houses. The Appomattox River at this point is very high. The meadows on the Chesterfield side of the river are submerged and the water is still rising. The protracted spell of bad weather this month has greatly retarded all farming operations in this section, and farmers are watching with anxiety for sign of brighter skies.
