It Was the Other One.

A year ago we were all at one of the lakeside resorts, where Planchette had been all the rage, and everybody was intent upon exploring the mysteries of the future.

Upon this particular evening a young man who had developed strong mediumistic powers laid his hand upon Planchette when I was called from the room to welcome a friend, a young lady who had just arrived from Lake Ste.

A few minutes later I entered with my friend, an utter stranger to the company, all upon me with questions.

"Who is she?" I asked, as Planchette spelled forward with visible and—

"Willie."

"I've known her since she was at the hotel, I will believe in."

"Send it " promptly writes the little machine.

"With whom? Can you tell his name?"

"Certainly: it is a very common name." My friend gave a little shriek

"Is it Smith or Brown?" I continued.

"It is the other one," answered Planchette.

"Did you ever!" exclaimed my friend.

Sure enough, she married Jones very shortly afterwards, and they have been very happy.—St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
