A distressing accident occurred
on Tuesday of last week on South
mountain, near Canton, which cost
Claud Coon his life. He was en-
gaged in loading logs preparatory
to hauling them to his father's mill
when, on account of the icy condi-
tion of the logs, one of them slid
off the load and threw him to the
ground. The falling log struck
him and fractured a number of his
ribs, one of which it is thought
punctured his lung. He was tak-
en to his home where he died at 1
o'clock Wednesday morning He
was the oldest son of Hon. G. M.
Coons of Canton.
