PARENTS FINED
IN SCHOOL CASE

CHESTER, Pa. - (ANP)
Magistrate R. Robinson Lowry Monday imposed $2 fines and $7.50 costs on each of 14 parents found guilty by him in Chester Police court of telling their children not to attend classes in the Watts school, which is an alleged firetrap.

The defendants, all Negroes, admitted inducing truancy, saying that they did not want their children to attend the school because of allegedly unsanitary conditions.

John Francis Williams, Philadelphia attorney, declared in the hearing that he would appeal to the Delaware County Quarter Sessions court. Because of this, Lowry allowed the posting of $25 surety bond for each defendant.
