The Joymakers Club, auxiliary of Bethel A. M. E. Church, held its fourth annual banquet Thursday evening in the lecture room which was beautifully decorated in the club colors of blue and white. Sixty members of the organization gathered around the banquet table which was presided over by Irvin Flowers, master of ceremonies. An interesting literary and musical program was presented in which the following took part: Nellie Franklin, Dorothy Moten, Lucille Jackson, Myrtle Maxwell, Lenora Freeman, Lorenna Mathews, Anna Morrison, Lottie Johnson, Mesdames Susan Mason, Margaret Griffith, Susan Flowers and Messrs. Arthur Harris. Eugene Carr, Claude Holiday, Victor Hooper, Donald Anderson and D. Oliver. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Taylor, recently of Seattle, also made interesting remarks. Mrs. Lulu Gregg, who has held the office of president ever since the organization of the club, deserves a great deal of credit for her untiring efforts in making the club a success. The program was arranged by Miss Myrtle Maxwell. A Victor Electrola concert was furnished through the courtesy of G. F. Johnson Music Co.
Bethel A. M. E. Church. X. C. Runyon, pastor.-Rev. J. W. Johnson, regional secretary of the National Baptist Convention, preached an able sermon last Sunday morning. There was one addition to the church. For the evening service the first of a series of motion picture exhibitions was given. The evening service with pictures will continue for several weeks each Sunday night. The Joymakers Club held its meeting Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Wm. Gregg with the Misses Anna Morrison and Myrtle Maxwell as hostesses. The Silent Workers Club held its meeting Friday night at the home of Mrs. Geo. C. Moore.
Mrs. Burroughs is very ill at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. Martin.
In honor of Mrs. Rose Scott, popular visitor from Seattle, who left Sunday for San Francisco, Mrs. Ruth Flowers and Mrs. Clifford McClain were joint hostesses for a breakfast party Friday morning at the home of Mrs. McClain on Union Ave. Twelve guests enjoyed the affair.
