According to Mexican Theories-A Probable Junction of Mexican and American Forces,
El Paso, Texas, June 1.-The Mexican officers here regard the news from General Crook as good news. They have been, until within a few days, in communication with the column of Lieutenant Gallard, and believe now that he has had quite time enough to meet Crook's column and corral the Indians.
A correspondent at Chihuahua says the concert of action on the part of the Mexicans has been thorough and generous, and that many volunteer guides and scouts have readily answered the call made by the Mexican commander. No less than 200 regulars are awaiting the opening of communication with General Crook at Casagrandes, where it is first expected his couriers will be met, especially should he be in any trouble.
Communication with Gallardo is as absolutely cut off as with Crook. It is believed that the troops have met at the heights of corresponding slopes at Casa de Janos and that they have crowded the Apaches together into a position from which they can only escape by openly fighting their way out.
