Full Text

A One-Sided Affair.-An election recently took place in York State to elect delegates to a Convention for the purpose of revising the State Constitution. The radicals claim that they carried the State by 20,000 majority, and that too although the election was no test of popular opinion, for the reason that the political complexion of the convention was a foregone conclusion at the start. The basis of representation was purposely so fixed that a majority of the aggregate vote against the republicans would not defeat the election of a majority of republicans to the convention. Of course the democracy did not care to enter into a contest which promised no practical results. The election was accordingly regarded with comparative indifference throughout the State, and in some districts the democracy nominated no candidates and unanimously remained away from the polls.
