MEXICAN KILLED OVER CHEAP CIGAR

Lakeview, Or., July 20.—In a quarrel that started over a five-cent cigar, a Mexican named Martinus, employed on the Nevada-California-Oregon railway line, building to Lakeview, was shot at New Pine Creek, 15 miles south of here, by Peter Follett, a resident of that place. The latter was held to the grand jury today charged with manslaughter.
Follett, who is a deputy sheriff, claims he was trying to take from Martinus a knife he had drawn, but which was found in the Mexican's pocket after the shooting.
