"Care not for Thee."

Care not for thee, ah! why should I?

But thou, tired of late by me,

I have ceased to care for thee.

For 'twas they that crossed by force,

That burned so brightly once on thee

The heart that like a wounded dove

Will ne'er flutter again for thee.

"Proud" I am--but "Belle"—never

Of one true heart thou once wast pure

Cruel the link that bound us--thou didst sever

In trifling with a heart so pure.

I would not wish you ill--no, never;

Because thou'st ever been to me

But rather ask heaven's choicest blessings

In thy life to follow thee.
