A prominent Pennsylvania Democrat, now in this city, admitted, yesterday, in conversation with a friend of Millard Fillmore, that Pennsylvania would go against Buchanan, and that he had no prospect whatever of an election to the Presidency. Such, also, he stated was the opinion of an intimate friend of Mr. Buchanan's and an associate with him in the cabinet of Mr. Polk.
Our own advices from Pennsylvania are of the same tenor. A gentleman of this city, recently returned from a tour through Pennsylvania, reports the excitement there against the Democratic party as altogether unprecedented; and assures us that the anti-Democratic majority at the October election will not be less than 30,000!
With such facts before them how can the conservative men of the South longer hesitate more They may rely upon it, that if Mr. Fillmore be not elected, Mr. Fremont will be.
