Secretly constructed in 60 days in an endeavor to bring back to America the world's airplane duration record now being held by Germany, the Fairchild-Caminez cabin monoplane received its first test recently at Roosevelt Field, piloted by Robert Simon, test pilot for the Fairchild Aviation Corporation, builders of the plane. The new entrant in the endurance contest is powered with a Fairchild-Caminez 135 h. p. air-cooled engine, which has no crankshaft or gears, and is noted for its low fuel consumption. It is expected that this plane will be able to stay in the air for 65 hours. Photo shows the plane with both its wings folded.
