5,000 Enrollees Are In State CCC Camps

The 32 CCC camps operating in Montana have more than 5,000 enrollees at the present, according to Robert Fechner, Washington, CCC director. Youths in the CCC camps are selected from relief or relief borderline families, and must send $25 monthly of their $30 salary to dependents.

Since the camps were organized in 1933, enrollees in Montana have constructed 1,380 miles of forest telephone lines; 1,195 miles of forest highways and truck trails; 115 miles of horse trails; 75 fire lookout towers; spent 90,428 man days fighting forest fires; 18,221 man days in fire hazard reduction work, and 48,682 man days planting trees, in addition to many other achievements.
