Hon. Wm. J. Stone, through a card in this week's Courier, announces himself a candidate for re-election to Congress. Stone is solid with the Democrats, because he has always been true to the party, and proven himself worthy and efficient in the discharge of the duties of his position; and we take it that all straight Democrats will hail with pride the endorsement of the Wheelers and Alliance people, if they shall give it to him at their approaching convention. It is said that he is a member of the Wheel organization and enjoys their confidence. We have no reason to doubt it, for he has been a farmer through life, and was Grand Master of the State Grange, and always warmly and actively at work for the farmers' interest; and we can see no reason why any Democrat should object to his Wheel membership any more than his church membership, or any society association. For be it known that a great majority of the Wheelers of Kentucky are going to make their fight inside the Democratic party, well knowing that their members can control that party in this State.
