Full Text
The family were seated at the breakfast table on the morning above mentioned, and when nearly through with their meal, were suddenly attacked with severe vomiting. Mr. Dodge himself was the first affected, and, leaving the room to throw the nauseating potion from his stomach, was followed by his oldest child, who, likewise, was vomiting terribly.
His wife and two youngest children were then attacked in a similar manner. A negro girl, employed as a servant, was also affected. Dr. Strode was called in, and under his treatment, the family, with the exception of Mrs. Dodge, who is still in a critical condition, are slowly recovering.
No clue as to how the poisonous substance became mixed with the coffee has yet been brought to light.
