Whatever good or bad consequences may result from the Irish propositions, when passed into a law, one very pleasing circumstance has appeared, which must be spoken of and remembered with pleasure by every friend to his country. We mean the noble stand which the manufacturing interest has made against them. It has been such as does honor to the genius of commerce; and future historians will profit by the information lately obtained, when they wish to paint the situation of Britain as to trade, in the year 1785.
