Acting Governor Charles K. Claunch, who has been confined to his home since last Thursday, went into the Knud-Hansen Memorial Hospital for a check-up and rest on Monday afternoon. It is expected he will stay there for a week.
Mr. Claunch suffered a heart attack early in 1955, and his doctors have warned him to slow down. There was no recurrence of the attack on Thursday, but his condition was such that he was advised to stay home and rest.
The Government Secretary has been performing his duties at home, and now will carry on some official functions from the hospital. Governor Garvin who left for Washington last week to attend President Eisenhower's inauguration, is due to return to St. Thomas today.
