Bishops. The Fayetteville Observer, referring to the recent election of the Rev. Thomas F. Davis, as Bishop of this Diocese, says:

"The Convention of South Carolina has anticipated that of North Carolina, which would most probably have chosen the same sound and able and pious Minister as Bishop of North Carolina."

There are now four natives of North Carolina in the House of Bishops, viz: Bishop Hawkes of Missouri, Bishop Green of Mississippi, Bishop Polk of Louisiana and Bishop Davis of South Carolina.
