What is this article about?
A letter to the Ypsilanti Sentinel describes a resolution granting a withdrawal card to C. J. Kellogg from Wyandotte Lodge No. 10, I.O.O.F., but at the next meeting, he was treated as severed from the order and called to order. It queries whether such a severed member can still be held accountable by the society.

Mr. Editor:—Sir, at the regular meeting of Wednesday evening the 9th inst. the following resolution was passed, it having been called for at a previous meeting by the person therein named. It was thereby decided as will be seen by referring to Rule 1, Art. 7, of the by-laws that he was in good standing and entitled to his card of clearance when called for.
Resolved, That a withdrawal card be granted to C. J. Kellogg according to request.
At the next subsequent meeting of the 16th the card not having been obtained the said unruly member arose to speak on a question then pending but was called to order and the following resolution of the G. L. was enforced.
Resolved, That a vote of a subordinate L. granting a withdrawal card to the brother applying therefor SEVERS THE CONNECTION OF SUCH BROTHER WITH THE ORDER and relieves the L., granting it from all liability for benefits, whether the card is actually taken or not. But if the card be taken the brother receiving it is entitled to the A. S. F. W. in us at the time and retains the right to visit for the period specified in such withdrawal card.
Thus was a brother thrown out upon "cold world" perhaps unexpectedly.
Query, can one whose connection has been severed with a society, and he consequently deprived of privileges, be held accountable to that society for his actions. Will some one give the desired information, perhaps it may be useful in the above case to
