Tribute of Respect.—Commodore Preble, being on his return from the seat of government, to his family in Massachusetts, was prevailed on to suspend his journey, and to gratify his friends, by accepting an invitation to dine with a Select party in this city, on Saturday last.
A sumptuous entertainment was provided at Hardy's Hotel, where upwards of 60 gentlemen assembled, to welcome their distinguished guest.
Thomas Fitzsimons, Esquire, and General Francis Gurney were requested to preside.
The day was passed in the most pleasant hilarity—and every demonstration of esteem and attachment, which the occasion called for, was cordially given, and gratefully returned.
