RICHMOND, Va. (ANP) Oliver W. Hill, only Negro member of the city council, stands a good chance of being reelected June 13. Mr. Hill won two years ago without the support of the Richmond Citizens' association. He was the ninth winner in the contest for a nine-man city council defeating the ninth white candidate on the citizens' ticket.
The story is different this time. Of the nine candidates backed by the Richmond Citizens association, Mr. Hill is one of them. The organization is urging the voters of Richmond to vote for the citizens' ticket, and it is almost certain that Mr. Hill will be reelected.
A poll on the value of the members of the City Council showed that Mr. Hill was considered second in importance and value as an official of the city in legislative work. He barely missed first place among newspaper reporters who were polled on the matter.
