New Locomotive.—A new and splendid locomotive, built at the work-shops of the O. A. & M. R. R. in this city, under the supervision of master machinist Jas. E. Waddey, was turned out this morning, and made a successful trip a short distance up the road and back. Every part of the machinery worked beautifully, and the engine reflects the highest credit upon the builders, and shows conclusively that as good work can be done at home as abroad. Another locomotive is in course of construction at the shops of the same company which will be completed in a short time. The Rappahannock, the name of the new engine turned out this morning, will start from Lynchburg on Thursday with the Examining Committee of the road. It is a satisfaction to know that the company are having their work done at home, thereby giving a preference to our own mechanics, and giving evidence of a desire to encourage home mechanism.
