Larson on Board - Edge Majority, 276,986 - Great Vote Cast in the State

TRENTON, Dec. 2. Governor Silzer, State Senators Larson of Middlesex; Blackwell of Mercer; Agans of Hunterdon and Simpson of Hudson, comprising the State Board of Canvassers today officially promulgated the result of the general election, November 4. New Jersey's fourteen votes will be cast in the electoral college for President Coolidge and General Dawes. The Coolidge majority was 378,284. The high vote for Republican electors was received by Farnham Yardley, 676,277.

The high vote among the Democratic electors was cast for Nathan Barnett, the figure being 298,043.

United States Senator Edge's majority was 276,986. Edge received 608,020 votes and his Democratic opponent, Mayor Donnelly of Trenton, polled 331,034. The average Republican assembly majority was 259,921. The Republican vote for assembly candidates was 605,571 and for Democratic candidates 345,650.

There were 1,346,679 voters registered and 1,119,668 ballots cast. The number of rejected ballots totaled 6,066. The additional nine million dollars in bonds for the Jersey City tunnel and Camden bridge were voted by a majority of 312,512. The vote in favor was 412,820 and opposed 110,318.

The vote for Republican electors: Eldridge R. Johnson, 676,082; Austin Colgate 675,944; William Richman, 675,557; Mabel Clay, 674,927; Bertram H. Borden, 675,094; Washington A. Roebling, 674,934; Ruford Franklin, 675,163; Edna B. Conklin, 674,769; Julius Forstmann, 674,988; Witt Van Buskirk, 674,454; Howard Marshall, 674,390; Farnham Yardley, 676,277; Clarence M. Owens, 674,614; Frances B. Eaton, 675,068.

Democratic electoral candidates received the following votes: William B. Gourley, 298,013; Marian K. Garrison, 297,848; Carroll P. Sherwood, 297,705; George M. Hillman, 297,849; James A. O'Connell, 297,833; Henry van Dyke, 297,743; Arthur D. Tuttle, 297,710; Thomas Barber, 297,731; Nathan Barnett, 298,043; George A. Ohl, Jr., 297,642; Cornelius J. Curtin, 297,715; William C. Cannon, 297,647; William F. Burke, 297,638; Maud E. Childs, 297,291.

The high candidate for elector on the Progressive ticket, Mark M. Fagan, polled 109,006. The Workers Party polled 1,533; National Prohibition Party, 1,660; Socialist-Labor 853; American Party, 368; Commonwealth Land Party, 265.

Edge, for United States senator, had pluralities in twenty of the twenty-one counties, Donnelly carrying Hudson by 24,281. In the entire state, George L. Record, Progressive candidate for United States senator, polled 37,795.

This year's election brought out 1,119,668 votes, compared with 937,558 in 1920. The registration this year was 1,346,679 as compared with 1,152,086 in 1920. Four years ago 214,528 registered voters failed to go to the polls. The non-voters this year totaled 227,011.
