Ten young men and women, from Grand Rapids and vicinity took the special civil service examination at Grand Rapids last Saturday. This was for the position of substitute clerk at the post office. The examinations were given in the assembly room at the Senior high school and were in charge of Mrs. Carrie McLean who is the head of the civil service department at the local post office. Notice of appointment to the position of substitute clerk will be received by the successful candidate after the returns have been checked at Washington.
