STILETTOS AND SHOVELS.

These Figured in Deadly Attack Upon a Roadmaster.

Red Rock, Okla., Nov. 6. - Twenty-nine Italian laborers, employed as section men on the Santa Fe, were arrested and jailed at Perry, charged with rioting and attempting to kill Hugh McNeal, the roadmaster. Because McNeal discharged one of the number, others struck and attacked McNeal with stilettos and shovels. McNeal was critically wounded. Only the prompt arrival of Deputy Sheriff Eldredge with a corps of assistants saved McNeal's life. The Italians defied the officers and a general battle ensued, finally ending in the arrest of twenty-nine.
