At perambulating the franchises in Dublin on Wednesday se'nnight, which all accounts agree made a most elegant appearance, they were preceded by the Right Hon. Sir Thomas Blackhall, Knight, Lord Mayor, attended by the two sheriffs, all the city officers, regalia, &c. which composed a very large troop; his Lordship, sheriffs, and several of his attendants, were mounted on fine horses, with the superb furniture, and a number of led horses, with grand caparisons, in his train. And among the pageants, the curriers, skinners, painters and stationers (who united in one company) had a superb carriage, drawn by six beautiful horses, which contained types and a printing press, a compositor to set the letters, and two pressmen working off impressions of poems on the art of printing, which were distributed to the spectators by the printer's devil, who was habited in a sable garment and cap, with the alphabet in a white shining metal properly dispersed thereon; they had also a painter at work, and other emblems of the different trades united in that company likewise a man in the armour which King Charles I. wore, which was given to this corporation by the late Colonel Paul.
