Mrs. Forsythe said last year the Society dispensed more than a half million free cancer dressings and hundreds of items of sick-room equipment, home calls and furnished transportation to and from hospitals.
Cancer has taken the lives of more than 2,400 Greater Clevelanders since last April. "The statistics are indeed grim," said Mrs. Forsythe, "but there is a ray of hope. Research programs of the American Cancer Society are making slow but steady progress against the disease. Much can be done today that could not have been done six years ago."
The Cuyahoga County Unit of the American Cancer Society is located at 337 The Arcade. Persons wishing to be aided by the Society are invited to visit Headquarters or call CH. 1-1177.
Lee C. Howley, general counsel of the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co. is county campaign chairman.
