NEW-YORK, MARCH 30.
AARON BURR.
Concerning this personage, we have just
been favored with the following extract of a
letter from a respectable gentleman in Fred-
ericksburg, (Vir.) to his correspondent in
this city, dated March 27:-
"Aaron Burr arrived here last evening,
guarded by nine men, who have
conducted him about 1200 miles, from
some part of the Mobile River, where
he was taken by an officer of government,
under Gov. Williams' proclamation;-the party had been here but
a very short time, when they were met
by a messenger from the President, directing the officer who commanded, on
receiving this message to change the
route immediately and proceed to Richmond, and there deliver their prisoner
to George Hay, Esq. Attorney for the
U. S.-they left this place in the stage
this morning.-How very different was
this man's entry last evening, from what
it was seven or eight years ago! Then
he came to attend the grand Caucus at
Monticello, by which the federalists
were turned out, and himself elevated
to the Vice-President's chair. He was
now mean and dirtily dressed, guarded
like a felon, and apparently much depressed and sunk in spirits. The presumption is, that he is to be sent to
Richmond, to be tried at the district
court there, which will sit in a few
days. It is said his first movements
were about Blennerhassett's Island,
which is in this state and of course the
trial will take place where the offence
was committed."

Aaron Burr is transported 1200 miles under guard from Mobile River to Fredericksburg, then redirected to Richmond for trial at district court related to activities on Blennerhassett's Island. His current depressed, guarded arrival contrasts sharply with his triumphant entry years earlier en route to becoming Vice President.
