Full Text

In the late Iowa election the Democrats carried nine of the ninety-nine counties in the State, but there has been no whining from the Democrats on account of the wholly one-sided result, nor howling about bull-dozing on the part of the Republicans. There must have been a raw head and bloody-bones Ku-Klux spreading its baleful influence in that sanctified State, and the Washington Government should be called upon to probe the matter—with the bayonet, if deemed necessary, to preserve the purity of the ballot. Those dreadful blue-nose Democrats, if let alone, are fully capable of corrupting Iowa's Republican morals, and of diverting the copious stream of superior intelligence which floods that favored commonwealth, over into Missouri.
