Full Text
The attack on the British troops at Rhode Island is certainly made before this and from our great superiority of numbers it is to be hoped we shall be successful; notwithstanding the number of lines and redoubts thrown up as defences by the enemy. The report of yesterday was, that Lord Howe had sailed out to attack the Count's squadron. It is probable they will make an effort of this kind, but the report is not confirmed. The Kingfisher and two galleys were burnt on approach of the Count's fleet.
