CANANDAIGUA. June 4.

Several detachments of troops have passed through this village the last fortnight, to and from the Niagara frontier. It is understood that an effort is making to bring detached parts of the same regiments together, which have been heretofore scattered in every direction.

"The largest portion of the army seems to be concentrating at Plattsburg, under Gen. Izard; and from that quarter we may calculate upon offensive operations being soon commenced. The army on the Niagara frontier seems to be calculated rather for the purpose of defence, and as a corps of observation. It is not improbable that it will be transported down the lake, as soon as the state of our fleet will permit."
