The ship Superior, in consequence of the revocation of the orders in council, took in a cargo of dry goods for this port: she arrived in the bay of Delaware; was there taken possession of by one of the gun boats; soon after, she was boarded by the Delaware state revenue cutter, who ordered her to New Castle. The gun boat men insisted on bringing her to Philadelphia; an altercation ensued between the collector, Allen McClean, and the commodore, Wm. Murray. The commodore ordered her for Philadelphia, where she arrived. On Monday last, commodore Murray went on the business of his command to New Castle; in the evening, he was invited by, and accompanied a gentleman, about seven or eight miles out of New Castle; when about 12 or 1 o'clock that night, was aroused from his bed by the marshal of that state, with the posse of the county, and a writ from the collector: and not choosing to give bail, was hurried at the dead hour of the night to New Castle, and there thrown into jail; where he remained Tuesday morning, when our informant left him.
