SO THEY WRAP IT UP.

The Presbyterian (Old School) Assembly has recently been in session at Richmond, Virginia :—

Dr. C. C. Jones, from the committee on Foreign Correspondence, reported two letters written in reply to certain letters received from the churches of Scotland and Ireland. The question arising upon their adoption, the reading of the letters received from those churches was called for.

Dr. Jones submitted to the Assembly a statement of the contents and purport of these letters, and expressed it as his opinion, as well as the opinion of the committee, that they need not and should not be brought before the Assembly. The reading was called for by various members, and reasons were adduced for and against the reading; when, finally, on motion of Dr. Hoge, the report was laid on the table.

The letters from the Churches of Scotland, although it is not so stated, no doubt referred to the 'delicate' subject of slavery. Our readers shall be apprised of the final action of the Assembly in regard to these letters, in our next number.
