The Vermont Medical Society, at their recent annual meeting, passed an unanimous vote to adopt the measures recommended by the Massachusetts and New Hampshire Medical Societies, in relation to the suppression of Intemperance. At a public meeting of the Massachusetts Society for suppressing Intemperance, held at Boston last week, resolutions were passed, expressing the opinion of the Society, that ardent spirits are prejudicial to health, and that entire abstinence from them except when prescribed as medicines, should be recommended to all classes of society. That it be recommended to ship masters, mechanics, farmers, and proprietors of manufacturing establishments, to induce those under their charge to form a habit of labor without using ardent spirits, especially to those having charge of the young, to endeavor to produce a strong impression on their minds of the dangerous tendency of even a moderate use of ardent spirits.
