WASHINGTON - (UPI) The U. S. Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday that citizens cannot sue the federal government to prevent it from carrying out nuclear tests.
The court upheld a lower court action dismissing the complaint of a group of 39 scientists and private individuals, including Dr. Linus C. Pauling, Nobel Prize winner.
The group sought to stop all nuclear tests on grounds they are illegal and will cause "worldwide fallout of radioactive debris," contaminating the food supply and bones of humans.
